The Dilweg Companies along with partner BIG Outdoor have unveiled a large format digital display that wraps around the corner of the 101 Marietta Street building in Downtown.
The signage is part of the Atlanta Arts & Entertainment District (AAED) initiative to merge digital media, public art and non-traditional advertising to fund cultural and public space programming in Atlanta’s city center.
The corner digital display at the corner of Marietta Street and Ted Turner Drive measures 1,050 square feet and features high-definition LED technology that will feature a rotating set of commercial and non-commercial messaging. Coca-Cola is currently displaying holiday advertising on the display.
Static ad displays will also wrap the building, while a recently completed mural designed in collaboration with Buckhead Murals – a colorful, geometric piece inspired by Atlanta and designed by ASD/SKY – has also been unveiled at the intersection. The mural was donated by The Dilweg Companies and BIG Outdoor to support the AAED’s goal to promote and create an artful vibrant district in Downtown.
Spearheaded by Central Atlanta Progress (CAP), AAED is billed as a “neighborhood activation and economic development project for Downtown Atlanta that fuses new outdoor media, local art, and advertising, and funds cultural and public space programming in the city’s core. By creating light, vitality, and activity, AAED authentically reflects the vibrancy of Atlanta as a whole.”
The 101 Marietta project joins already completed AAED projects at Peachtree Center, which includes a digital board that displays art, MARTA schedules, and nearby ridesharing, and at the 76 Forsyth Street parking deck which includes a mural, plant wall, and art by Neka King.
Additional digital displays, murals and signage have also been announced for other prominent corners in Downtown, including the Westin Peachtree Plaza at Peachtree Street and International Boulevard and the parking garage at 79 Marietta Street.
